Both Bacich and Kent Schools operate a Learning Center/Resource Specialist (RSP)program to serve the needs of students who are eligible for specialeducation services and have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)or need additional intervention strategies. The District also has aspeech therapist to provide speech/language services at the two sites.

Learning Center Program

This program is designed to provide supplemental instruction in asmall group setting. Students who are at-risk of not meeting Districtstandards or who have IEPs, come to the Learning Center to developstrategies, and work on individual goals that will increase academicperformance, to develop learning strategies, and learn skills forsuccess in their general education classes. Each school site has twoLearning Center teachers and additional instructional aides to supportthe students.

Designated Instructional Services

Designated Instructional Services (DIS) are supplementaryservices provided to students who have IEPs, which are related to theiridentified disabilities; examples are speech and language services,occupational therapy, counseling and services for hard of hearing orvisually impaired.

School Psychologist

Psychologists are responsible for conducting all assessments ofstudents initially referred to special education and for students�triennial reviews as needed. Kentfield School District contracts withthe Marin County Office of Education to provide these assessmentservices at both school sites, as well as providing consultationservices to staff and parents.
