Kent Falcons News
Greetings Kent Community,
I am honored to work alongside the exceptional group of professionals that make up the Kent Middle School staff. Staff Appreciation Week last week provided a wonderful opportunity to shower these educators with praise and recognition for the enumerable ways they support the growth of our students. Thank you to those in our community who contributed to various meals and snacks across the week, expressed words of support and encouragement, created the artwork gracing pathways and halls, and captured kind notes of appreciation. We value this heartfelt recognition of our instructional and support staff’s efforts, and thanks to you all for your appreciation and support.
State testing continues this week at Kent with a focus on the mathematics portion of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Students began today with their math Computer Adaptive Test, and in the coming days will also take on the math Performance Task. Similarly to the Language Arts CAASPP test, our students are taking their assessments in their mathematics teacher’s classroom this week during regularly scheduled math class; the testing schedule is linked here for your reference. For students who need additional time to complete their English and math CAASPP assessments, there will be make-up sessions offered next week. During the week of May 23, 5th and 8th graders will take the science portion of the assessment.
We are especially excited for two upcoming social events for all Kent Falcons: the 5th and 6th grade Games Night and the 7th and 8th grade Movie Night! This Friday, May 13, all 5th and 6th graders are invited to attend Games Night in the MP Room starting at 6 p.m., coordinated by our KSPTA. Next Friday, May 20, all 7th and 8th graders are invited to attend Movie Night, planned by our Student Leadership Board and WEB leaders. We are excited to offer these opportunities for students to connect with their peers at these fun, social events after school hours. Please encourage your child to attend one of these upcoming events!
All my best,
Grant Althouse

Safe Routes to School Survey for Middle School Parents
Dear Middle School Parents:
Please take 10 minutes to answer 18 survey questions for WHY you do or do not allow your child(ren) to walk, bike, or bus/carpool to and from school. Your feedback is ESSENTIAL for Safe Routes to Schools’ program development serving our school and 26,000 students in our county. Thank you!
The Transportation Authority of Marin funds the Safe Routes’ crossing guards, pedestrian and bike education, encouragement events (e.g. International Walk to School Day), Task Force meetings for crosswalks and bike lanes near schools, suggested route maps, and much more. Your help is vital for program funding to address the needs of your family and others.
Take survey HERE. Questions? Contact Peggy@marinbike.org.
Contacte a monica@marinbike.org.
