A highlight of my week was the District English Learner Advisory Committee meeting on Tuesday. This monthly meeting is an opportunity for parents of students who are learning English to gather and learn about their students’ school experience and how to help them with it. Over the years, I have participated in dozens of meetings where parents have taught me so much about their lives and their families. It has been a privilege to have been trusted with their children’s education.

At Tuesday’s School Board meeting, everyone is invited to come share with the Trustees their thoughts about the $1 million in budget cuts they need to make. The meeting will be held in the Kent Library, and the budget discussion begins at 5:00 p.m. We hope to see you there.

The first meeting of the Board’s Technology Committee is February 26th, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Kent Library. If you are interested in exploring issues related to technology use in our schools and advise the Board on related policies and procedures, please attend. Representatives from all stakeholder groups are invited.
