KSD Winter Break Message
Warm wishes for a safe, peaceful and relaxing winter recess. Below are updates and reminders for reference during this holiday season.

Distance Learning only - Week of Jan. 4th to Jan.8th
The KSD will temporarily provide Distance Learning only during the week of January 4th. This decision is to support our school community in following Marin Public Health Quarantine Guidance if you are unable to follow the Dec. 17th Regional Stay-at-Home Order. The KSD will resume Hybrid instruction on Monday, Jan. 11th.
Winter Break Travel Guidance
If you are traveling over the winter break, we encourage you to plan proactively and return to Marin by Friday, January 1st. Please refrain from any other travel or gathering with other households inside or outside your home after January 1st.
Per Marin Public Health, families who are unable to follow the Stay-at-Home Order MUST:
- Monitor for symptoms for 14 days; if any symptoms develop, they should self-isolate immediately;
- Quarantine for 10 days after engaging in a high-risk activity; or
- Quarantine may be discontinued after 7 days if they test negative (diagnostic molecular rt-pcr tests only) on Day 5 or later and remain asymptomatic.
Local COVID Testing Options
Public Health Testing - Curative: Marin County Public Health is offering five-day a week communitywide Curative COVID Testing opportunities beginning December 21st. Appointments will be opened 4 days prior to testing day. For more information click here.
KSD COVID Testing: On January 5th, the KSD will host local COVID testing at both school sites for all staff as well as members of our school community. To register for testing sign up here - Bacich or Kent. Deadline to sign up is Thursday, December 31st.

On Wednesday, Dec. 16th KSD hosted Budget 101 - Part I, if you were unable to join you can access the recording and presentation here. Please note, this was re-recorded due to technical difficulties.
KSD Negotiations Update
The KTA and KSD negotiators met on December 17th and engaged in productive negotiations, the negotiators will reconvene on January 7th for further discussion.
Winter Break COVID Reporting
Per Marin County Public Health each School District is requested to have members of their community report any exposure to COVID or COVID positive test results during the winter break. Reporting can be made by leaving a message at your child(ren)’s respective school site (see directions below). Staff will be monitoring messages daily during the break to ensure necessary COVID-related communication is sent to affected families and staff.
If a KSD student or staff is exposed to COVID or test positive for COVID, please leave a message at your respective school/work site with the following information:
- Name - First and Last
- Date of Exposure or Test Positive
- Contact Information - Email or Phone Number

Community Conversation with Public Health - Jan. 4th, 1:00pm-2:00pm
Marin Public Health representatives, Dr. Willis and Dr. Santora will host a Community Conversation following the winter recess to provide updates about COVID-19 in our County and the Stay-at-Home Order. Please submit your questions to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
