Bacich Bears News

Maria Martin

Dear Bacich Families,

Welcome back from the Mid-Winter Break! This year, those of us who were in town were treated to some rare snow on Mt. Tamalpais! I hope those of you who traveled away from home had a safe and enjoyable trip.

Bacich Talent Show – 2023

I am excited to host the Bacich 2023 Talent Show on Wednesday morning for our student body. This annual event showcases the many types of performing talents our third and fourth grade participating students possess.

There are many students who have various talents and don’t often get the opportunity to showcase them during the course of a school day. Providing opportunities to perform in front of an audience can help our students develop self-confidence. Encouraging students to participate in the talent show provides an opportunity for students to discover what they are good at. These opportunities help to foster positive feelings about school for our Bacich Bears, which can also lead to increased academic learning.

Our participating students attended several rehearsals during lunchtime and after school. They have worked really hard to practice their routines. We look forward to celebrating their efforts to improve their talents and prepare for the show. I want to acknowledge and appreciate the families of the performers! Thank you for your support and partnership. I also want to thank Bacich parent, Amy Wheeler, who volunteered her time to coordinate the event and support all of the rehearsals! Thank you also to Becky Poon, our beloved music teacher, who also contributed her time and expertise to help prepare the students for the show.

While we are unable to invite our parent community to this event due to space limitations, we are thankful for your support.

Third Grade Chorus Concert

This week, we also get to host the Third Grade Concert! All of our third grade students have worked hard to learn new songs and practice for this fun event. We are fortunate to have a robust music program that includes choral performance for our elementary students. We hope all third grade families will be able to join us on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. for the concert. Our entire student body will get to enjoy the concert on Friday morning!

I hope you enjoy the final days of February and the beginning of March!

Baseball Field Construction

Ross Valley Little League (RVLL), is funding and managing an improvement project of the majors' baseball field at the northwest corner of the Bacich field. The project includes the construction of two new enclosed dugouts with entry gates. The project also includes increasing the height of the baseball fence to prevent foul balls from being hit onto Sir Francis Drake Blvd. A new concrete pad for the bleachers and shed will be installed. RVLL has plans for similar improvements to the minors' field (the field closest to the main parking lot). The timing of the minors' project has not been finalized. Over the February mid-winter break (February 20 -24), the baseball field grass will be replaced.

All of the work is being completed by licensed and insured contractors and all workers have received clearance to work on-site during the school day. We do not anticipate much of an impact on our students during the course of this project. The route of the track has been slightly altered due to the temporary construction fencing. All construction vehicle traffic will occur outside of the school day. The project will be completed by March 10 at the latest, with RVLL opening day taking place on March 11.

These improvements, especially the new grass, will benefit all of our students. We appreciate the partnership with Ross Valley Little League and all they provide for our community.
