Kent Activities

Does your Falcon have an appetite for adventure? Are they missing the lunchtime ritual of eating and laughing together with friends? Bummed that many vacations were cancelled? Well have I got the answer for you! Each week, Ms. Carroll and I hold a virtual destination lunch, called Falcon Fêtes. We pick a new destination to "travel to" while we learn about their culture, history and food. We post fun facts and videos in the Falcon Fêtes Google Classroom so they can get the "flavor" of that place in the world prior to lunch! We even encourage them to bring a culinary representation from that location as their lunch for the day. But any lunch is great! It is such an amazing way for us to connect with our kids, give them a fun place to land during these challenging times, and look outside ourselves to experience different cultures and people. This week we are traveling to drum roll please...South Korea!

  • 5th and 6th fêtes are held on Mondays from 1:40-2:10 pm
  • 7th and 8th fêtes are held on Thursdays from 1:40-2:10 pm

We cannot wait to dine with new tourists!

Virtual Author Visit THIS WEEK and NEXT!

We are SO very lucky to have a virtual visit with Torrey Maldonado planned for this Thursday at 12:20 p.m. with seventh and eighth graders. Torrey is the author of the incredible books Tight and What Lane, which you can borrow from your language arts teacher, the library or purchase them from the Book Passage. The books are about fitting in in middle school, race, and navigating the trials and tribulations that come with growing up. On Thursday, October 15th, Torrey will visit with our 5th and 6th graders at the same time. It should be a super fun hour, and if you would like a sneak peek, check out this link!

Happy reading,
