KSD News
Dear KSD Community,
Last week our Bacich Bears celebrated the 100th day of school, which accounts for over fifty percent of the school year. It is pretty remarkable to see how much our students have grown academically and social-emotionally over these last number of weeks. Next week we look forward to the mid-winter recess, where we hope students, staff, and families will enjoy some relaxation from the typical hustle and bustle of the school year and return refreshed and ready for the second half of our year.
Before you step away for the break, please remember to complete the KSD Youth Truth Family Survey. It is essential to get feedback from our parent/guardian community as it will help inform our planning for the next school year. Have your voice be heard by contributing to our goal of 100% participation.
I wish you a positive week ahead!
Take Good Care,
Raquel Rose

KSD Comprehensive School Safety Plan
The 2022-2023 Comprehensive School Safety Plan (CSSP) for the Kentfield School District was just approved by the Board of Trustees at their February 7 meeting. Required by CA Education Code and updated annually by March 1, CSSPs are designed to ensure school districts prepare for emergencies, address potential risks to campuses, and create safe, secure, and peaceful learning environments for students and school staff.
The CSSP is the overarching safety plan for our district, and it includes 10 key components, including the Bacich and Kent emergency preparedness plans, along with other documents and policies that outline how we foster social, emotional, and physical safety for all members of our school communities. We are proud of our District’s focus on safety and ensuring that our schools are safe, nurturing places for our students to learn, play, and grow.

When to Stay Home
The CDC COVID-19 Community Level is low (case rates and hospitalizations) and the Marin COVID-19 wastewater levels (a helpful metric for local transmission levels) can be found here. MCPH advises persons to consider wearing a mask at schools indoors, especially if they or someone in their household is immunocompromised or at high risk for severe illness.
We are also noticing student cases have been increasing for the past six weeks, so please stay vigilant. California Department of Public Health encourages all students and staff to test for COVID-19 IF they feel sick; AFTER exposure, travel, or large gatherings; and BEFORE events or visiting high-risk people.
Please know that our school offices have COVID tests available if needed. Thank you for your support.
Please reference this exposure notice for information on symptoms, communicability, and prevention. (English I Spanish).
Please keep your child home if they are sick. It's not too late to get your flu vaccine. Please contact our school nurse Laurel Yrun (lyrun@kentfieldschools.org) with any questions you may have about how to navigate illness and school this year.
