Special Education Student Support Services
Learning Center Programs are offered at both Bacich and Kent Schools. For students who are eligible, these programs provide specialized academic instruction delivered by education specialists and paraprofessionals throughout the school day. Speech and language services are provided at both schools as outlined in students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Other specialized programs and services are also available based on students' Individual Educational Plans (IEPs). For more information about district programs, please call Virginia DiGirolamo at (415) 458-5126.
Learning Center Program
This program is designed to provide supplemental instruction and to target learning strategies in a small group setting. Students who have IEPs come to the Learning Center to develop skills and work on individual goals that will increase academic performance. Each school site has Learning Center teachers and additional paraprofessionals to support students in their individualized goals.
Designated Instructional Services
Designated Instructional Services (DIS) are supplemental services provided to students who have IEPs, which are related to their identified areas of need or disability. DIS services are available at both school sites. Examples are speech and language, occupational therapy, counseling and hearing services.
School Psychologists
Our school psychologists conduct comprehensive assessments of students receiving special education services. Students are initially assessed and then reassessed every three years. School psychologists also provide consultation and support to staff and parents.
Family Partner Group
Family Partners is a group for parents of students with learning differences.
